Well today we're going to talk about love, a lot of love ! About the love of music, the love of pop more precisely, and about group love !

Beware, this review is not about gangbang, or maybe just a musical gangbang. We’ll stay quiet and clean today !

Because handfull of group love is clearly what Grouplove propose !

From their L.A. Hometown, this american quintet showers us with their positive attitude contained their excellent first LP « Never trust a happy song ».

The story of the band is quite simple. A leadsinger/guitarist and a leadsinger/keyboard meet 3 musicians while vacationing in Crete and they decide to form a band once back to the city of angels !

The result ? The perfect playlist for your next vacations, in 12 songs... more or less.

Why « more or less » ? Well because everything's not that perfect...The album clearly has some weaknesses, and is not all about hit singles ! Actually the only real problem is Hannah Hooper's singing. Where the nosy vocals from Christian Zucconi always aim right, Hannah's voice is almost never at the right place (« Slow » and « Spun » are clearly the sleepiest moments of the record).

But when the boss takes the lead back, the party is on again with loads of pop masterpieces somewhere between Mgmt, Kings of Leon or yet Foster the people ( « Itchin' on a photograph », « Tongue tied », « Lovely cup »).

We'll sure welcome Grouplove with arms wide open for our summer festivals, but before that we'll go and see them play this 13th of February at The Ab Club !

From 17 to 21 February 2012, four Belgium based designers will present their collections at Somerset House. Flanders Fashion Institute asked us to design a video installation to be featured during this event.
The video was shot entirely at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, which is currently closed for renovations until 2017. The video makes use of this unique location.
Like the museum's art pieces, the model, featuring pieces from the designers' collection, is carefully wrapped, stored and transported to other destinations ...

NORAH JONES “LITTLE BROKEN HEARTS”

Norah Jones is set to release a new album this spring entitled Little Broken Hearts (Blue Note/EMI), a collaboration with the producer and musician Danger Mouse. The two first worked together when Danger Mouse called upon Jones to contribute vocals to his acclaimed 2011 album ROME, and their connection proved deep enough that they decided to collaborate on Jones’ fifth studio album. Little Broken Hearts, which features original songs co-written by Jones and Danger Mouse, is the fascinating next step in the artistic evolution of one of the most intriguing singers to have emerged in the past decade. Together they have married their highly personal styles to create an entirely new sound.

It was that singular voice that caught the attention of Danger Mouse as he began to conceptualize ROME, his homage to classic Italian film score music. He already had Jack White in mind for the male role, and he and his collaborator Daniele Luppi realized that Norah’s voice would give the project the perfect balance it needed. Jones contributed three standout songs to ROME (check out a stripped-down live acoustic version of “Black” on RollingStone.com) and around the same time she and Danger Mouse began working on some of the material that would eventually become Little Broken Hearts.

The duo reconvened in Danger Mouse’s Los Angeles studio this past fall to finish what they had begun. The songs were all built from the ground up in the studio, with Jones and Danger Mouse sharing all the songwriting credits and performing the majority of the instrumental parts; Jones on piano, keyboards, bass, and guitar, and Danger Mouse contributing drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, and string arrangements.

Jones will tour extensively in 2012, performing at a mixture of festivals, amphitheatres and theatres in the US and abroad, including her return to the Hollywood Bowl, which has been announced as part of the venue’s subscriber series. The nine-time Grammy-winning singer will be appearing at the iconic outdoor amphitheatre in Los Angeles on August 10. The public may purchase subscriptions starting January 24. Groups of 10 or more may purchase subscription tickets starting January 30. Patrons may purchase five or more concerts at one time starting March 13. Single tickets go on sale on Saturday, May 5. H&M DESIGN AWARD 2012

The H&M Design Award, it’s a new prize that brings together graduates from major design colleges around Europe to encourage their future fashion careers, as well as to inspire the upcoming generations of designers.

Graduates from fourteen colleges in six countries will compete for the prize, with the winning collection being shown at Stockholm’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 1st 2012, along with a prize of €50,000.

The winner will also get the chance to have chosen pieces from their collection sold in selected H&M stores later in the year. From January, everyone with an interest in fashion can follow the awards process online through a series of films at designaward2012.hm.com. It will feature behind the scenes footage of the colleges and portraits of the designers, as well as the jury sessions and live streaming of the winner's show on February 1st.

For H&M’s first ever Design Award, BA graduates from fourteen fashion colleges are competing to become the local winner from their country, who then stand a chance of becoming the overall winner of the global Design Award prize. The participating colleges are Beckman’s College of Design, Stockholm and Borås Textilhögskolan, Borås in Sweden; DKDS, Copenhagen and Design Skolen Kolding, Kolding in Denmark; Universität der Kunste UdK, Berlin, University of Pforzheim, Pforzheim and Weissensee, Berlin in Germany; Brighton School of Architecture & Design, Brighton, Central Saint Martins, London and London College of Fashion, London in Great Britain; ArtEZ Institute of Arts, Arnhem and AMFI, Amsterdam in the Netherlands; Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp and La Cambre, Brussels in Belgium.

Along the way, videos and images of the graduates work will be posted online, meaning everyone gets to follow the progress of the award and to see 2012’s best new talent from around Europe. H&M’s Head of Design, Ann-Sofie Johansson, will blog about the process, and there will also be interviews with judges and glimpses into life at some of the world’s most prestigious fashion colleges.

Visitors to the site can also vote for their favourite collection, the winner of which will receive a special People’s Prize. The overall winner of the H&M Design Award 2012 will show their collection at Stockholm’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, fast becoming one of the most important dates on the international fashion calendar. The H&M Design Award will be an annual prize, confirming H&M’s commitment to the future of fashion, and to helping fashion move forward.

Menswear designer Kris Van Assche presents his first line of sunglasses in collaboration with Linda Farrow. KRISVANASSCHE introduces six new styles of sunglasses in his signature masculine and sober style. All glasses are made of high quality titanium, giving an industrial feel to the collection.

Kris Van Assche has created six designs available in four color combinations: metallic black, silver metal, matte brown and brushed metal. For this last variation, the sleek lines are given a raw edge with bluish soldering burn marks. Titanium nose pads and KRISVANASSCHE branded titanium tips add to the industrial feel, while a clear acetate temple illustrates the designer’s attention to detail while maintaining effortless elegance.

The strong brand identity is continued in the logo lasered on to the tough nylon lenses.

The SS’12 Preview is a dressy vintage workwear inspired collection, that presents a bold contrasting style, a clash of clean formal and dirty functional garments, and encapsulating both Diesel’s ‘work hard’ and ‘play hard’ ethics.

Clean cut formal blazers, dressy shirts with metallic sequins and bow-ties, that create a dressy edge, are set in contrast to dirty treated denim pants, overalls and chinos from the opposing world of workwear. Ok. You will never believe this. While walking the streets of Brussels this morning we stumbled upon something that looks like a CONVERSE emergency case with shoes in them. We wanted to take a picture but the minute we took our camera out, a man walked by the emergency case and took out the Converse shoes and walked away. WITH the shoes!!

The only thing that is left is this empty case….

How did this emergency case get there?
Are there any more cases?
And will there be CONVERSE shoes in them…?

Supermodel, TV personality and newly published author Tyra Banks stars as the body-popping, face-pulling subject of Marcus Gaab’s new fashion short for the latest issue of I Love You Magazine. Transformed into an empowered jitterbug with flat-top hair, yolk-yellow eye shadow and an unashamedly 80s wardrobe, Banks danced spontaneously and made off-the-cuff emotive declarations of love (and hate!) in the low Los Angeles light.

“I just told her to perform, do her thing and to stop when she felt like,” says Gaab. “But she didn’t stop, she kept on voguing. There was no rehearsal; she invented the whole thing while we were there.”

The Invisible Architect is the third full-length album by like minded production duo and long-term friends 1000names. Unlike their previous releases, which focused more on technology and machinery, they drew their inspiration for this album from the unconscious moments that just happen during live shows or studio improvisations, those happy accidents when the music emerges out of the chaos with no traceable origin. To all my friends and supporters, I made this video 4 months ago just before school was about to start. I was 13. It was a very emotionally dark time in my life. I made the video at 4:00am in the morning; I hadn't been sleeping at night for a long time, too many things going on in my head. I was dreading going back to school and I had not come out to my family yet. Only my closest friends knew. I didn't know how to say what I needed to say. All I could think about were all the bad things that had been happening at school last year, every year for that matter. I just couldn't bare to go through that anymore. I was done being fake happy, pretending hateful words didn't hurt, done hiding it from my family.
So this video was made for my friends that had moved on to High School who were worried for me, to say to them that I was going to take a stand, and to the haters at my middle school that I'm not going anywhere. I am who I am. I posted the video here and told people were to find it. That was it.
My friends were moved by the video and thought I did something important. I was encouraged to upload it to my Facebook page so more people could see it. Maybe it could help someone else going through the same thing. So I linked it Dec. 1st. My Parents saw it for the first time Dec, 2nd.
Then..... all this happened.
I never expected in a million years that it would have such a wonderful impact on so many people. I am truly humbled and truly thankful for all the love, encouragement and support from people all over the world. It's been incredibly overwhelming. I don't know what to say. Thank you so, so much!
Lastly, yes you have seen me happy in a couple short videos replies I posted; I would think that would be a good thing , and yes I do have friends, my High School friends, and I have made friends because when I came out they realized that they had hurt me and that they fealt sorry. The video is real, and true.
In the last few months everything eventually came out in the open, I felt a huge weight off my shoulders; I'm happy, I'm excepted for who I am, I'm more confident and feel stronger every day.

"1987" by Casio G-Shock, is an urban retro-style video shot on the streets of New York City, the home of BMX icon Nigel Sylvester. The video, titled 1987 the year Nigel was born, celebrates a collaborative timepiece between Casio G-Shock and Nigel. As an adult, Nigel looks back on his year of birth as a time of great creative freedom and experimentation. The film was created to capture that spirit.

The cinematography takes reference from classic arcade games. The sound design draws spirit from the associated 16 bit soundtracks that emanated from the computers of that time. The graphic approach pays homage to Casio.

After a great, great party at AA Docks with killer sets from Ivan Smagghe, Kiki and Geoffroy Mugwump, we are back on the 10.12. For those who attended, we’d like to say we are truly sorry but had nothing to do with that annoying smell problem. AA Docks have guaranteed us it has been solved and won’t ever happen again ! Nevertheless the vibe was truly kicking and we had…a blast (Video on the way to prove it !)

So now for this new edition, we are truly excited to welcome UK dance-music LEGEND, Andrew Weatherall, a true wizard of musical re-invention (which is a rare breed in these sad, stereotyped “one-genre, one-sound’ days). Yes, the producer behind Primal Scream’s “Screamadelica” classic album (or more recently for great acts such as Warpaint or Fuck Buttons) and tons of amazing records as Two Lone Swordsmen or Sabres of Paradise (on Warp) and many, many different aliases, will lead the way of a truly stellar line-up, that also comprehends one of our favorite dj’s, the Kompakt mainstay and Total Confusion supremo, Mr Tobias Thomas (who really launched Leftorium with a bang, back in february and is here again by Leftist public demand !) plus Leftoriumist executive Geoffroy Mugwump (Kompakt), highly excited to finally welcome Sir Weatherall at one of his parties too.

Do you remember the famous & crazy D-LITE parties (Pussy Galore) in the 90’s at Fuse club? You can now discover the new wild D-LITE.

After some 15 years, the D-LITE parties have made their comeback and have invited exceptional artists (DJ’s & VJ's) from the Brussels and international electro scene.

Some of you are familiar with these mythical parties, others weren’t born yet but one thing is sure, they have impressed a whole generation such as the Pulp in Paris …

For the previous editions (FUSE, WOOD & The Marquee), the line-up was exceptional: Aurore Daerden-Smagghe (Paris, New-York, London), Compuphonic (Libertine Supersport, Union Match, Turbo rec.), Lady Jane (Catclub, ex D-Lite), Mike Orlando (Boccaccio, La démence, Vaudeville, ex D-Lite) & Nancy Burrello (D-Lite, Zukunft).
