MM6 MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA TO COLLABORATE WITH OPENING CEREMONY

Maison Martin Margiela and Opening Ceremony announce today their collaboration with a MM6 Maison Martin Margiela’s unique capsule for next Fall/Winter.
For the first time since its launch in 1997, MM6 Maison Martin Margiela introduces a capsule in collaboration with New York retail pioneer, Opening Ceremony.

A key foundation stone of the Maison’s creative expression is the idea of recuperation, transformation and reinterpretation. Based upon a 3-in-1 concept, select styles throughout the collection will transform into separately wearable garments. Inspired by the construction of a jacket with detachable lining, this core characteristic will broaden the collection from over 20 original styles into an assortment of additional silhouettes.

For example, a black quilted leather jacket is constructed with a contrasted water resistant nylon lining in beige that is fastened by buttons. As this lining is unfastened from the leather jacket, a nylon jacket is unveiled. Such playful and functional elements are consistent to the design concept behind the MM6 Maison Martin Margiela line and intrinsic to the collaboration with Opening Ceremony.

The MM6 Maison Martin Margiela and Opening Ceremony collaboration will include both women's apparel and accessories that represent the trend-setting and collaborative personality of Opening Ceremony together with the daily and younger contemporary approach to fashion design of MM6 Maison Martin Margiela.

In line with the collective spirit of the Maison, this Fall/Winter capsule of apparel and accessories will launch globally in September 2011 at Opening Ceremony retail locations and select Maison Martin Margiela partners globally.

Musical Crush - Echo Beatty

A few weeks ago, thanks to dj Pop Rules, I discovered a Belgian duet from Antwerp called Echo Beatty. I have to admit I'm still looking for the right words to describe what I felt the first time I listened to their EP "Tiny Organs of Trust" without being misunderstood.

Echo Beatty, is Annelies Van Dinter, a woman, a voice, soft, emotional, soulfully mixed with a certain feeling of strength…

Echo Beatty is Jochem Baelu, a man, a music, nostalgic, confused, mind touching, overwhelming with depth and meaning…

All through the songs, the duo is literally putting you on a personal path. The atmosphere, the melody, the voice are directly speaking to your soul. It's like it was written just for you. Like if they knew all you've been through your whole life and transform it into songs.

As their Facebook page says: "Echo Beatty is a duo of rambling souls. Armed with an old organ, a vibraphonette, a set of hair combs, guitars, metal springs, a loop station and a drum; they roam the sonic plains searching for rapture. She sings her soul out and he enfolds her in atmospheric sound tapestry. Echo Beatty evokes disturbing beauty that can sound vast and forbidding as well as soft and vulnerable in the same moment."

I could try to compare them to other existing artists, but it would be impossible for me to find one that makes you feel all those emotions at the same time. I could also used every adjective in the world it would not be enough to describe it.

The best way for you to understand what I felt is to go see them live in Brussels This Thursday (16^th) @ Chaff (Place du Jeu de Balle) and next Monday (21^st) @ Bar du Matin. (Place Albert)
