Visionaries Interview | Diane Pernet

Diane Pernet’s impressive career spans fashion design, journalism and film-making, but she is foremost a cult fashion ‘curator’. When not in the front row at fashion week she can be found consulting and bestowing her revered judgement at various creative institutions globally. Her work on the web propelled her to the forefront of online fashion, as the driving force behind A Shaded View of Fashion. This blog, widely referred to as a ‘style bible’, is hailed as a platform giving young designers the opportunity to get the exposure they need.

Pernet was herself a fashion designer in the 80s and edited numerous publications including Joyce, elle.com vogueparis.com and Zoo over the years. One of the first to champion fashion film, her own early lo-fi fashion film ventures were a landmark in the burgeoning medium of fashion film. In 2008 she founded the first ever fashion film festival, A Shaded View on Fashion Film Festival which recognises the medium as an art form in its own right and is helping earn it the credibility it deserves.

Mugler Men's ready to wear collection Spring Summer 2012

MUGLER film teaser by Nicola Formichetti and directed by Branislav Jankic.
Nicola Formichetti takes his inspiration from only the finest of these gods, for “Brothers of Arcadia,” a two-part video series to go with the launch of his spring men’s collection for Mugler.

“I live in New York now but grew up in Rome with the baroque and classical architecture and sculpture everywhere,” Formichetti said. “So I suppose this project is a combination of the two.”

Gay Guerilla: Kiss-in at bourse!

Violence and gay bashing in Brussels needs to STOP. That's why there will be a guerilla kiss-in, this Sunday around 4 PM at the Bourse in the centre of the capital. Come and bring your friends, your lovers, your colleagues and your family. If you can whistle, whistle. If you can kiss, kiss. If you just want to hold hands: that's ok. Because everybody has the right to be. Gay. Straight. And especially: safe.
-----
-----
Holebi. Hetero. Maar vooral: in alle veiligheid.

Frederick Hornof - Sacha Shoe Award 2011 #Limited edition

Sacha believes in supporting young talent and gave the opportunity to the students of Royal Academy of Antwerp to express themselves in shoe design without any commercial restrictions.

The winner, Frederick Hornof, designed a very exclusive shoe. The red heel refers to Louis XIV. It was Louis XIV at the court of Versailles, who wanted to keep his power and the favor of the aristocrats. In order to keep the rich and wealthy close, Louis declared that only those in the royal favor were allowed the privilege of having red heels on their shoes. Allowing them to show off when they were in favor. Only the most selected had the privilege of the red heel. A symbol of wealth, exclusivity, and influence.

Shoes are available in all stores in Belgium.
