Presenting the DAA by JBC collaboration!







Top model Hannelore Knuts, NGO Designers against AIDS and fashion retailer JBC (all born in Belgium) join forces to raise awareness and fight HIV/AIDS in Belgium and Luxemburg For the fashion workshop at the International HIV/AIDS Awareness Education Center (IHAEC) in Antwerp, Belgium, students Clizia Garrone, Alexandra Fernandez and Veniamin Shykin customized pieces of the DAA by JBC collection, hand made two banners with safe sex slogans and designed and made cute little pillows as give-aways for the guests. here you can see how they did it. “The secret of Hercules’ success: everybody’s free to feel good. But I can’t leave it at that. Making a magazine is a bit like making a movie. You have to corral the talent, impress your personal vision on them, express it through them. This used to be called the auteur theory. Fifty years ago, it radicalised the appreciation of film and changed the way people judged movies. Or, to be more precise, the way some people judged some movies. Five years of Hercules are proof that David and Francesco have created a magazine that was just about as personal as you could imagine. Even when it was someone else taking the pictures and doing the styling, it was still recognisably their point of view: physical, brazenly sensual, celebratory. Sunny, funny and campy too. Call it balearoticism.

Collaborating for the second time, Maison Martin Margiela and Cutler & Gross are combining their unique style and expertise to create a new collection of sunglasses.

Following a very successful first collaboration one year ago, Maison Martin Margiela and Cutler & Gross reveal and assert an attention to detail that is based on powerful inspirations. The four new themes are available in different designs which represent a unique vision both from an aesthetic and comfort point of view.

For the first time, Maison Martin Margiela has adapted its 'Replica' line to include sunglasses. These designs, whose origin is explained on the label, are as alluring and powerful as the original pieces but have been reinvented through the choice of materials used. Inspired by the past, the Maison applies its style to create new timeless designs.

This second collection consists of four themes:
‘Replica France' - a rounded design with tapered sides made in acetate and based on a French design of the 70s.
‘Cable Temple’ – the acetate frame front contrasts with the delicate arms made from German metal which end in a semi-circle of stainless steel.
‘Rimless’ – a shape which plays on the illusion that the lenses are not surrounded by a frame. The very slim arms are made from stainless steel.
‘Replica Turkey’ – their enlarged titanium frames, based on a Turkish Army model of the 80s, give them a feminine allure.

Available from November in Maison Martin Margiela boutiques and in a selection of fashion and eyewear sales outlets.
