Photographer Marcus Gaab Captures the Former Supermodel Channeling Crazy Chic

Supermodel, TV personality and newly published author Tyra Banks stars as the body-popping, face-pulling subject of Marcus Gaab’s new fashion short for the latest issue of I Love You Magazine. Transformed into an empowered jitterbug with flat-top hair, yolk-yellow eye shadow and an unashamedly 80s wardrobe, Banks danced spontaneously and made off-the-cuff emotive declarations of love (and hate!) in the low Los Angeles light.

“I just told her to perform, do her thing and to stop when she felt like,” says Gaab. “But she didn’t stop, she kept on voguing. There was no rehearsal; she invented the whole thing while we were there.”

Best known as the sassy and energetic host of guilty pleasure America’s Next Top Model and her self-titled chat show that ended in 2009, beneath the caricature Banks is a shrewd business woman, running a successful production company, attending Harvard Business School, and boasting a built-in brand that eclipses most ex-supermodels.

“When I was a little girl and went to Disneyland, I didn’t know that all this was from Walt Disney,” said Banks, revealing her surprising idol. “That’s what I want to be. Me being behind the scenes, the business woman, creating new stars, products, projects.”

The Invisible Architect - 1000names

The Invisible Architect is the third full-length album by like minded production duo and long-term friends 1000names. Unlike their previous releases, which focused more on technology and machinery, they drew their inspiration for this album from the unconscious moments that just happen during live shows or studio improvisations, those happy accidents when the music emerges out of the chaos with no traceable origin. In these unconscious moments, it seems, the invisible architect – a mysterious natural power – creates this untouched and raw music, almost like the geological formation of rocks in a mountain or the trees in a forest are formed by the fundamental forces of nature.

To all my friends and supporters, I made this video 4 months ago just before school was about to start. I was 13. It was a very emotionally dark time in my life. I made the video at 4:00am in the morning; I hadn't been sleeping at night for a long time, too many things going on in my head. I was dreading going back to school and I had not come out to my family yet. Only my closest friends knew. I didn't know how to say what I needed to say. All I could think about were all the bad things that had been happening at school last year, every year for that matter. I just couldn't bare to go through that anymore. I was done being fake happy, pretending hateful words didn't hurt, done hiding it from my family.
So this video was made for my friends that had moved on to High School who were worried for me, to say to them that I was going to take a stand, and to the haters at my middle school that I'm not going anywhere. I am who I am. I posted the video here and told people were to find it. That was it.
My friends were moved by the video and thought I did something important. I was encouraged to upload it to my Facebook page so more people could see it. Maybe it could help someone else going through the same thing. So I linked it Dec. 1st. My Parents saw it for the first time Dec, 2nd.
Then..... all this happened.
I never expected in a million years that it would have such a wonderful impact on so many people. I am truly humbled and truly thankful for all the love, encouragement and support from people all over the world. It's been incredibly overwhelming. I don't know what to say. Thank you so, so much!
Lastly, yes you have seen me happy in a couple short videos replies I posted; I would think that would be a good thing , and yes I do have friends, my High School friends, and I have made friends because when I came out they realized that they had hurt me and that they fealt sorry. The video is real, and true.
In the last few months everything eventually came out in the open, I felt a huge weight off my shoulders; I'm happy, I'm excepted for who I am, I'm more confident and feel stronger every day.
Thank you all, Love and peace to all who are hurting.

1987 by Casio G-Shock

"1987" by Casio G-Shock, is an urban retro-style video shot on the streets of New York City, the home of BMX icon Nigel Sylvester. The video, titled 1987 the year Nigel was born, celebrates a collaborative timepiece between Casio G-Shock and Nigel. As an adult, Nigel looks back on his year of birth as a time of great creative freedom and experimentation. The film was created to capture that spirit.

The cinematography takes reference from classic arcade games. The sound design draws spirit from the associated 16 bit soundtracks that emanated from the computers of that time. The graphic approach pays homage to Casio.

After a great, great party at AA Docks with killer sets from Ivan Smagghe, Kiki and Geoffroy Mugwump, we are back on the 10.12. For those who attended, we’d like to say we are truly sorry but had nothing to do with that annoying smell problem. AA Docks have guaranteed us it has been solved and won’t ever happen again ! Nevertheless the vibe was truly kicking and we had…a blast (Video on the way to prove it !)

So now for this new edition, we are truly excited to welcome UK dance-music LEGEND, Andrew Weatherall, a true wizard of musical re-invention (which is a rare breed in these sad, stereotyped “one-genre, one-sound’ days). Yes, the producer behind Primal Scream’s “Screamadelica” classic album (or more recently for great acts such as Warpaint or Fuck Buttons) and tons of amazing records as Two Lone Swordsmen or Sabres of Paradise (on Warp) and many, many different aliases, will lead the way of a truly stellar line-up, that also comprehends one of our favorite dj’s, the Kompakt mainstay and Total Confusion supremo, Mr Tobias Thomas (who really launched Leftorium with a bang, back in february and is here again by Leftist public demand !) plus Leftoriumist executive Geoffroy Mugwump (Kompakt), highly excited to finally welcome Sir Weatherall at one of his parties too.

Since the Spring/Summer 2009 season, Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci’s vision has been defined by urban masculinity, sportswear influences, and a unique re-interpretation of classic tailoring. An accessory normally associated with the surfing world has become signature motif of the latest Spring/Summer 2012 collection: the lanyard key ring.

Woven in a nylon jacquard with the Givenchy logo, the lanyard features a key ring. It’s exclusively-designed snap hook closure system is the an extension of the trademark Givenchy hardware concept, Obsedia. Typically found on bags, jewelry, and belts, the industrially graphic Obsedia buckle is reworked here as a key ring.

In white, aqua or khaki, the key ring lanyard will be available in worldwide Givenchy stores from February.

Onitsuka Tiger episode one: "Roots"

All journeys, have to begin with a few, humble first steps. While its products may have reached iconic status worldwide, Onitsuka Tiger began with one man and a unique vision.

In the summer of 2011, Mutaurwa Mapondera took his first trip to Onitsuka Tiger's hometown of Kobe, Japan in order to understand that vision; to discover where it came from and understand how it could influence the future. Digging to the roots of the brand's deep history, Mutaurwa interviewed five men reverentially referred to as " The Legends."

Playing influential roles in the nascent days of the company, each Legend had a unique perspective on how the brand came to be, and working closely with Mr. Onitsuka himself, each one made indelible contributions to the legacy of Onitsuka Tiger.

In the first of three episodes, Mutaurwa talks to two legends about the influence that the city of Kobe had on the company's character and ideals.

Reflecting on their experiences, each Legend shared their views on Mr. Onitsuka, his leadership, his philosophies, and how the next generation can carry on and extend his vision.

Op 8 december 2011 om 10.00u opent Abercrombie & Fitch zijn Flagship store in Brussel, de enige in zijn soort in België, op de Waterloolaan 20-21.

Zoals de traditie het wil, zullen de heetste Abercrombie & Fitch mannen, die zorgvuldig werden geselecteerd in de A&F-winkels in de VS, Japan, Italië, Engeland, Frankrijk, Denemarken, Spanje en Duitsland al paraat staan in de week vóór de opening.

PINK NIGHT 10 - Pink Screens Closing Party / Sat. 19 Nov.

Pink Screens film festival invites you to celebrate during its  closing party PINK NIGHT, on Saturday 19 November at Brussels CONGRES from 11pm onwards.

For the first time in Brussels, the amazing GAGABEARS, stars of the Italian queer scene, will set the party on fire.  DJs will make you dance all night long, while performances & visuals will spread Pink Screens colours al over the beautiful hall of Brussels CONGRES.
