The Oracle of Amsterdam • meets • Cocorosie
After “Gravediggress,” the first single from CocoRosie’s upcoming Tales Of A Grass Widow, it was clear that the band’s macabre, somber wave is here to stay. With “After The Afterlife,” the sister duo has weaved lullaby with off-kilter pop track. The whole thing is magically sweet and eerie.

ART PERFORMANCE WEEK-END
ART PERFORMANCE WEEK-END
Elisa Andessner - Marita Bullman - An Debie - Nick Defour - Béatrice Didier - Monica Klingler - Evamaria Schaller
On May 3rd and 4th, 10/12 will open its doors to some artists from different backgrounds whose artistic practice is essentially in the field of performance art as an ephemeral art form.
Though the artists at this weekend all have a different and particular universe, some common points emerge: a commitment to the body, relative to the space, in present time, sometimes with objects, which leads them to consider their "performance "not as an object or as a finished product, but as a shared moment, a process that unfolds in that place and at that precise moment.
Entrance fee: 5 euros / night or 7 euros for two nights. (The entrance fee will be paid in full to the guest artists)

Beady Eye - "Flick Of The Finger"
Beady Eye announced the release of their highly-anticipated sophomore album, entitled ‘BE’ - out June 10th on Columbia Records.
Lead track, ‘Flick of the Finger’ premiered over a weekend on US radio station KCRW and got played by XFM and Zane Lowe on Radio 1 on Tuesday evening. Listen to ‘Flick of the Finger’ here: http://snd.sc/10NG54t
One of most hotly-awaited albums of the year, ‘BE’ represents a true evolution in the band’s sound and writing techniques. Recorded in London with cult producer Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Liam Gallagher, Andy Bell and Gem Archer experimented with Protools, cassette tapes, samplers, recorded conversation, iphone apps and unusual instrumentation to create this ambitious and exhilarating set of tracks showcasing a stunning depth of songwriting. The record is a bold statement of intent from a band who sound as hungry as ever to achieve greatness.
‘‘Working with Sitek just opened something up in us. He’s without a doubt the best producer i’ve ever worked with, a real outlaw - he doesn’t give a fuck, no rules. We had a new found focus when we were writing it - we really got our heads down and got our shit together - clear heads, none of that crap from the 90s. It feels like a really special record for us.” said Liam.
“It’s a trippy record! The strength of the tracks is so high that we got to really play around! It’s rock-band instrumentation, but used in a different way. Liam’s vocals are incredible, all you have to do is turn on a microphone and you’re like, ‘that sounds like a record!’ You don’t have to do anything to them.” said Dave Sitek.
With festival slots at V Festival and T in the Park already confirmed and a new record which is sure to smash down people’s expectations when they hear it, this summer looks set to be soundtracked by the one and only Beady Eye.

Devendra Banhart’s Mala.
© Ana Kras
Mala, Banhart’s eighth studio album, was recorded in his then-home in Los Angeles. (He now resides in New York City.) He and Georgeson played most of the instruments themselves, using borrowed equipment and a recorder they had found in a pawn shop. The recorder is a couple of decades’ old piece of gear “that a lot of early hip-hop had been made on,” says Banhart. “And knowing my songs are not hip-hop whatsoever, we thought it would be interesting to see how these kinds of songs would sound on equipment that was used to record our favorite rap. Let’s see how this technology would work for us.”

Gabrielle Aplin - English Rain
Gabrielle Aplin is a 20-year-old English prodigy. Heavy words but take that especially critical to the millions of YouTube viewers who have made it big. Aplin is a textbook example of the 2.0 generation. With just a good internet connection, she has her dream of becoming a singer songwriter to be true.
Barely three years ago, Aplin her first folk songs and other covers on YouTube and made them self-promotion on the net. The otherwise critical Youtube viewers were very enthusiastic about the combination of her voice, charisma and instrumental knowledge (guitar, piano, drums). Here lies the key to its success.
In February 2012 Gabrielle Aplin signed a recording contract with Parlophone / EMI. Since then sits her career into high gear. Aplin is eight artists chosen to Frankie Goes To Hollywood's 'The Power Of Love' to re-treading for the annual Christmas Campaign of the British department store John Lewis. Those in the United Kingdom legendary campaign in the past accounted for launching the careers of such Ellie Goulding, Aplin delivers a number 1 in the UK charts on.
Gabrielle's debut album 'English Rain' comes out on Friday, May 10, 2013. Jane Birkin sings serge Gainsbourg VIA JAPAN
Jane Birkin was the muse and lover of Serge Gainsbourg and became world famous for their duet "Je t'aime moi non plus" and the controversy that followed.
After the death of Gainsbourg stepped Birkin among spotlights to come to focus on writing and her ceaseless work for humanitarian charities. At the request of fans, however, she took the microphone in hand again and took aim at the Gainsbourg-testament to the widest possible audience.
And she did, in the most diverse forms: Serge in pop, Arabesque, for classic quartet, with 14 musicians, with 6 musicians, ... Birkin had everything taken out, so she thought. Until the disaster in Japan took place exactly two years ago, in March 2011: the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Fukushima grabbed her so hard that she decided immediately to fly and do where they excel: the repertoire of Serge Gainsbourg new to life. Of these concerts is now a live registration recorded for release. Chante Jane Birkin Serge Gainsbourg "Via Japan" is an adventure that unexpectedly resulted from solidarity for Japan. It is also an opportunity to breathe new life into the magnificent texts of Gainsbourg, with new jazzy and rhythmic arrangements and a setlist of cult songs.
This release is digital only, preorder on iTunes:
