Pathosformel La timidezza delle ossa / Martin Margiela

In the frame of Nuit Blanche Brussels 2011, Pathosformel carries out a sitespecific video installation on the external walls of Brussels’ Maison Martin Margiela.
Moving from the artistic tradition of bas-relief, La Timidezza delle ossa presents us with a moving relief of bodies that seem to appear carved in the stones and to suddenly disappear as images caught in the night. Body fragments build to form a floating frieze: chest, thighbone, knuckles and shoulder blade appear to be growing out of the wall itself, in a strong relation with the architecture.
And every time, they vanish again, like details of a memory crumbling away, swallowed by the building. As a new form of ephemeral monument that cannot leave traces; or maybe simply a monument to ephemeral moments

Pathosformel is a visual and performing art project born in Venice in 2004 to reconsider the human presence and its image in performing art.
Pathosformel’s productions were presented in the last years as performance or installation in performing art centre as: ICA – Institut for Contemporary Art (London); Centrale Fies (Trento); Les Brigittines (Brussels); Grec Festival (Barcelona); Clipa Aduma (Tel Aviv); Musée d’Art Contemporaine de la Ville
de Toulon – Nuit des Musées (Toulon); Noorderzon (Gröningen); Uovo performing art festival (Milano); VEO Valencia Escena Obierta; FimP (Oporto); Kino Bosna (Sarajevo), Raum XING (Bologna). Pathosformel received the Scenario Prize 2007, UBU Prize 2008, Iceberg Prize for contemporary art 2009. Pathosformel is part of the Fies Factory project and of APAP european
network for performing art.
