NEW KIDS
Delphic, the young trio of Rick Boardman, Matt Cocksedge and James Cook make music on laptops in their Manchester flat, blending the aspects of electronic outfits with the soft rave-cum-band vocals of Klaxons. Whilst having played Creamfields and for Annie Mac they also fit right into Reading Festival or the supporting bill for Doves and Super Furry Animals. “It’s not rave,“ claims Rick, “There may be references to 90s dance music but we also love Bjork, Radiohead, Kraftwerk and, at the other end of the spectrum Xenomania.” Once their debut single was released on Belgium’s classic 90s techno label R&S Records home to Aphex Twin and Derrick May, Ewan Pearson heard the band and subsequently took over studio duties for the album. Wholly involved with their music and to take more control of it, the album will also be appearing on their own Chimeric label through Polydor, whilst they will also making their own artwork and even filming their TV adverts.
