The Spring/Summer 2011 Hilfiger Denim collection is inspired by Jonh Hughes iconic mid-´80s movie of teen rebellion. The Breakfast Club. The first fashion group, Rebel, draws on the palpable angst of the characters Jonh Bender and Allison Reynolds from the movie, to offer a casual, washed look that is both subtle and tinged with some toughness.
Prep celebrates the preppy characters within the movie. They inspire a look that is traditionally preppy and sporty, referencing athketic gear and varsity staples. Influenced by the styles of the popular jock on the field, the look is a status symbol and a badge of achievement.
The season also sees the continuation of the Hilfiger Denim Blue collection: a celebration of American vintage clothing, combining authentic details and high-end fabrics. Key pieces draw inspiration from heritage and Americana styles, using stone and chino. In a move away from the familiar blue palette, a seasonal twist introduces more neutral colors.
Complimenting the line is a selection of keys pieces in tops offered in Blue Essentials. This group consists of simple pieces in both woven and jersey that have a modern yet authentic feel.
Super lightweight, slubby and finer fabrics are important, as the shapes of garments remain simple and easy, resulting in a collection of contemporany basics with a luxurious feel.
