She's Belgian! She's got style!
She's a model for New Models agency in Brussels.
But most of all, she's a music freak! Ad, like many before her, she has created a blog to share her favorite concerts memories.
BUT the BIG plus she has going is that she's challenged herself to take polaroids of all her idols... and she does! :)
She also illustrate her posts with interviews, short stories or clips.
Curious by nature, off course I had to find out more about this rockin'chick!


Could you briefly tell me about your experience as a model?

I have been a model since I was 15 years old. People encouraged me to do it and so I tried it out.
I loved it from the start but I quickly found out that I was never meant to be a topmodel. I did it for quite some time, but knowing the business as it is, I decided soon enough that I should be realistic enough to look towards other things in the future. It payed my rent and my craving for clothes for years, so I was very happy with that.

What is a typical day for Elisabeth?

Getting trought the organised chaos of the day with a latté, some online facebook/blog/youtube breaks and the soundtrack of that day.


When and why did you decide to create your blog?

I was experimenting with a Polaroid I bought in the 'Les Petits Riens' shop for some time and with my birthday coming up
I wanted to give myself a birthday present by taking a picture of Pharrell Williams at the 'Lokerse Feesten' festival.
People told me it was a mission impossible. When i finally pulled it off (I managed to get ON stage WHILE the band NERD was performing snapping a picture
of Pharrell posing for me in front of a huge insane crowd.)
I was shocked how hard it was to take a simple Polaroid picture from an urban artist surrounded by bandmembers, entourage, girls, security, etc...
I tried it again at 'Feest In Het Park' festival with The Roots and when I saw myself sitting next to Questlove in his backstage room
I thought about the idea of writing my adventures down, combining my love for the music, the instant moment of a Polaroid picture and
the crazy shit you have to get trough to get what you want.

Tell me about the strongest emotions you've had while chasing stars. Who's number one for you?

Q-Tip was very amazing to me. He was very genuine, very real, a great artist and just a nice and normal person.

If you read the blog, you will know that I have been chasing Pharrell Williams for 4 times since the first Polaroid.
I'm not happy with those pictures because since the blog and the methodes have evolved, I am convinced I could get
a better picture. I only once had his attention for 3 minutes and I completely blocked, couldn't say a word anymore.
He just has this aura. Sounds cheesy, I know, but its true.


And what about embarrassing moments?

When I fell flat on the floor (Carrie-style in the Paris YSL-store) for +/- 100 people because Snoop Dogg was leaving from a backdoor to get to his car. My knees and hands were bleeding, I felt like a freak, and then you ask yourself what the héll
you are doing in your free time and considering another hobby.

Tell me about your actuality and furtur projects.

Let's say for 2010 I'm taking this little blog international, with some trips here and there, pushing the level of artists and expanding the content for the category OUNI LIKES, which will focus on people/things linked to the urban world.

Your "places to be" in Belgium ?

I live by the sea so I'm obliged to mention Bar Lafayette in Ostende and Kitch Club in Knokke and I'm hearing great things about the RA store in Antwerp.

You work in the fashion industry. Who would be for you the hottest belgian designer to follow in 2010 ?

Hmm. Hard Question. I'm not such a die hard fashionista to make a statement like that, I leave that to the pro's. ;-)
Personally, I really love Annemie Verbeke, for her quality and her talent for making clothes for real woman.
I think she deserves much more recognition from the Belgian Press.
Also, I'm curious to see Bruno Pieters collection evolve now he left Hugo Boss.
Last, he might not be completely 'Belgian' but it seems like Haider Ackermann is doing a very good job lately.
