Trailer Festival Troïka @ BOZAR
Start on Friday 22 October. To coincide with the Belgian presidency of the UE, Belgium's French-speaking Community, the Flemish Community, and BOZAR CINEMA will present,a weekend devoted to contemporary films from Belgium, Spain, and Hungary.
The weekend, entitled "Cinema Troika", will open on Friday 22 October with a preview of Beyond the Steppes by the young Belgian director Vanja d'Alcantara. A symbolic starting point, as her film has been equally co-produced by Belgium's two main linguistic Communities. Over the next two days there will be a particular focus on young directors. Throughout the weekend, audiences will be offered a selection of films by contemporary directors from the three countries. Overall, there will be no fewer than 20 screenings, with a wide range of genres, both fiction and documentary;
many of these will be followed by an encounter with the director. There will also be cinema classes.
The Spanish films already confirmed include Tres días con la familia by the young director Mar Coll, which won the 2009 Goya award for the best new director. The programme will include an exclusive screening of a satirical musical comedy from Hungary, Made in Hungária by Gergely Fonyó, one of the most successful films in Hungary last year. Following the Namur festival and overlapping with the Ghent festival, this weekend event, midway through the Belgian presidency, aims to bring together Belgian film-lovers, foreign film-lovers living in Belgium, and film-lovers from the other two organising countries.
